Today (10 September, 2019) at the Observatory of International Relations of CHELGU, in partnership with the Economics Faculty, we had the pleasure to receive the Austrian delegation students from the University of Applied Sciences in Vorarlberg (FHV), for a lecture about “Intercultural Communication” given by Rafael Moreira from Brazil, a teacher of English Language and International Relations from the Department of Political Scienses and International Relations of the Faculty of History and Philology. Furthermore our students of International Relations had the opportunity to receive Vanessa Paisley for a lecture about “Cross Cultural Communication”.
Vanessa has certifications such as TIP (The International Profiler) coach, UK, DPI (Developing People Internationally) trainer, TESOL, Teaching English as a Second Other Language, Degree in German from Reading University, UK and a Master’s degree in Communication Studies from Sheffield Hallam University, UK. She works as an intercultural trainer and relocation specialist, who helps professionals to work and communicate effectively across cultures, she is also a regular lecturer at the University of Applied Sciences in Vorarlberg (FHV), Austria where she has been facilitating a cross-cultural exchange program known as Xplore India and Xplore Russia for 10 years.
In this program Vanessa pre-teaches intercultural communication theory, training the students before accompanying them to BULMIM New Delhi and Chelyabinsk State University – Russia, taking learning beyond the textbook and working as part of a multicultural team of Austrian, Russian, German, British and Indian academic staff. She has first-hand experience of dealing with the challenges presented by an international learning environment, being able to give to our students a great view of the international sphere, sharing important advice about cross cultural communication and international environment.
The Observatory of International Relations has been working more than 2 years, receiving guests from different countries and backgrounds to share with the students of International Relations and guests their experiences, giving to our students the unique chance to learn in practice and with real stories.
